Behind the Enigma of Wine

Italy, oh Italy

As a wine buyer, and wine lover, few things thrill me more than when I come across a unique gem of a wine which totally takes me by surprise. I think this is why I love Italy the way I do, for it seems that every second time that I try Italian wines I find something exciting.

Monsordo from Ceretto

Ask most wine drinkers about Italian wine and you will get either a blank look or some reference to those ridiculous straw covered bottles of Chianti, good only to hold a dripping candle at Pappa-Something's pizza house.

Bordeaux's can be tough, especially for those of us who cut our "wine-teeth" on the luscious ripe wines of California.

Trefethen Cabernet Sauvignon

What a pleasure it is to be able to drink good wine. Wine that not only tickles the taste buds but warms the heart with it's richness. Well balanced (and made) California Cabernets give us this kind of pleasure. They incorporate that rich sun-blessed fruit with subtle tannins, and roll over the palate with the tempered strength of a Pacific Ocean swell.

Every once in a while you get a chance to experience something which is truly unique. And, every once and awhile something typical can take on extra-ordinary characteristics.
